Six natural Songea sapphires totaling 1.72 ct, displaying earthy green hues.

Earth-Toned Songea Sapphire Set II - Songea, Tanzania - 1.72ct (Total)

A matched six stone suite of natural fancy green sapphires from Songea, Tanzania displaying a cohesive earthy palette of sage, olive, and forest green. Collectively weighing 1.72 carats, the suite consists of six matching 5.00 × 3.00 mm oval modified brilliants, creating a deliberately uniform architectural array.

The stones range from pale mint-sage through deeper olive and forest green, with subtle shifts toward yellowish-green and cooler blue-green tones as the stones are tilted. This directional color behavior is characteristic of pleochroic sapphire and gives the otherwise monochromatic suite a degree of movement under changing light.

Each sapphire presents strong face-up transparency with crisp facet return and minimal visible inclusions. Under magnification, minor growth features and pinpoint internal characteristics are present, but they do not materially interrupt the face-up appearance of the suite.

Rather than relying on extraordinary individual size or highly saturated gemstone color, the appeal of this group lies in its calibration, consistency, natural color palette, and architectural utility. The six matching oval set lend themselves particularly well to linear arrangements, stepped compositions, halos, articulated bands, or other structured multi-stone designs.
