Milky Cherry Blossom Star Sapphire - Lục Yên, Vietnam - 6.08ct

A natural Vietnamese star sapphire distinguished by its soft cherry blossom-pink body color, luminous milky translucency, and a pronounced six-ray star. Weighing 6.08 carats, the stone is fashioned as a substantial oval cabochon with a smoothly proportioned dome measuring 11.30 × 8.40 × 5.80 mm.

The body presents a delicate pastel pink, modified by soft lavender and purplish-pink zoning that appears in diagonal bands across the dome. Rather than presenting as a transparent gem, the sapphire possesses the characteristic silky, internally luminous appearance associated with rutile-bearing corundum. Fine oriented silk within the stone produces a visible six-ray asterism under a concentrated light source, with the star emerging most clearly across the central dome.

Under long-wave ultraviolet illumination, the sapphire exhibits a notably strong red-orange to neon-red fluorescence. Together with its unusual color zoning and pronounced asterism, this gives the stone an optical personality that extends beyond its body color alone.

This is a gemstone of phenomenon and character rather than conventional faceted brilliance: a substantial natural sapphire selected for its star, color, silk, and unusual visual response.
